One of the most asked questions we get from our customers, is how to care for their sterling silver jewelry.  The number one way to make sure your silver stays looking wonderful, is to wear it.  We once had a customer tell us that she accidentally dropped a sterling silver necklace behind some furniture.  There it sat for almost a year until she was doing some spring cleaning and discovered it.  My how it had tarnished!  Our customer took some cleaning solution to the necklace, but it still wasn’t looking its best.  She wore it anyway, thinking it had a nice aged look.  After a few days of wearing this necklace, she noticed that it started looking shinier and shinier.  She realized that by simply wearing the necklace, she had naturally polished it even more, and with continued polishing with our cleaning solution and polishing cloths, she was able to restore it to its original state.  So, the number one answer to the question, “how to care for sterling silver?” is:  LOVE IT AND WEAR IT!

Of course you can’t wear every piece of sterling silver jewelry you have everyday, so sometimes your sterling silver pieces might need a little help, and you’ll find yourself researching “how to care for sterling silver.”  While you’re not wearing it, there are a few tips to follow that will keep your sterling silver looking as good as new.  First, store your sterling silver jewelry in a cool, dry place.  Secondly, invest in some polishing cloths to use on your jewelry every time you put it on and take it off.  You can even wrap your jewelry in the tarnish prevention cloths between use.  This will slow down the tarnishing process and will protect your jewelry from rubbing against items that might scratch it.  Lastly we have some wonderful cleaning solution that will help keep your Roma Designer Jewelry looking as good as the day you bought it.  Use the cleaning solution as needed.  If you follow these simple steps, your sterling silver will always look great on you!

To summarize, the best ways to care for your sterling silver jewelry are as follows:

-Wear it!  The more you wear it the more it will develop a lovely patina.  If you don’t like the patina, simply wipe your jewelry down with a polishing cloth before and after each use.

-Store your sterling silver jewelry in a cool dry place.  Protect it with a polishing cloth or bag, and use the polishing cloth as needed.

-Invest in some sterling silver cleaning solution, use it as needed, and your jewelry will always look as good as the day you bought it!

Many of our customers have seen our Bernardi Platinum Plated Designer Jewelry on our website and at our Costco Road Show Events.  We also have a variety of Rhodium Plated Pieces in our Roma Designs Private Collection.  

Rhodium is a precious noble metal in the same family as Platinum.  High end jewelers around the world use rhodium to plate over white gold and platinum designer jewelry as it is a durable metal and it does not tarnish.   White Gold is kind of a  misleading term since pure gold is yellow.  White Gold is actually an alloy of yellow gold and another bright metal such as silver or palladium.  Then it is usually plated with rhodium to give it a “white” appearance.
